DMN for Gemini CLI

Use Gemini CLI next to Claude Code or Codex without starting it from zero. With DMN it reads the notes the other agents saved, searches the same local index of your code, and sees which files they're editing.

What Gemini CLI gets

  • Notes from every agent, saved in your project's .dmn/memories.
  • Code search in one call. The matching code comes back, not a list of files to read.
  • Callers and blast radius. Who calls a function, and what a change to it could break.
  • Claims on files. It sees which files other agents are editing.

What's different from Claude Code

Claude Code and Codex get a briefing hook, so each session starts with your rules and the newest notes. Gemini CLI has no such hook from DMN yet: it reads the notes when it asks for them, through the skill or the memory tool.

Set it up

In DMN, start Gemini CLI from + agent in the Fleet panel. For Gemini CLI in your own terminal:

  1. Install DMN

From the download page. No account.

  2. Add the skill

Writes ~/.agents/skills/dmn/SKILL.md, the shared Agent Skills folder Gemini CLI reads. With --project, it goes in the repository's .agents/skills instead.

    dmn skill-init --apply --agent gemini

Prefer MCP tools to a skill? dmn mcp-init --apply --agent gemini adds DMN's MCP server to Gemini CLI's settings.json. Leave out --apply to see what either command would change first. To check or undo it, see Connect your agents.

Questions

Does DMN use my Gemini account?

Gemini CLI keeps using your own login, as it does without DMN. DMN doesn't sell AI.

Does my code leave my machine?

Not through DMN, unless you point it at a remote embedding service yourself. The engine only listens on your own machine (127.0.0.1), and the index and notes stay there. Gemini CLI keeps talking to Google, as it does without DMN.

Will Gemini CLI use fewer tokens?

We haven't measured it. The benchmarks ran Claude Code; other agents may gain more or less.
