DMN for Aider

DMN runs Aider in a pane beside your other agents, unchanged. Aider takes no skills, MCP servers or hooks from DMN, so the engine reaches it through Aider's own commands. Here's what works, and what doesn't.

What works

  • A pane. Start Aider from + agent in the Fleet panel, next to Claude Code and Codex.
  • The other agents' notes, read in with Aider's --read or /read-only.
  • Code search, through /run: Aider can add what it prints to the chat.

What doesn't, yet

No session-start briefing, no claims on files, and no way for Aider to save a note itself. Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor and OpenCode get those through the skill, MCP or hooks; Aider supports none of them for DMN.

Bring the notes in

Notes are markdown files in your project's .dmn/memories folder. Start Aider with the ones that matter as read-only context:

aider --read .dmn/memories/stripe-webhook-raw-body.md

In a session, /read-only with the file's path does the same. dmn memory list shows which notes there are.

Search the code

Run DMN's search from inside Aider, and say yes when it offers to add the output to the chat:

/run dmn search "where do we verify the webhook signature" --curate

The answer is the matching code, whole functions with their callers, so Aider has less to open.

DMN for Windows is coming soon. The commands work once it's installed.

Questions

Does DMN use my model provider's account?

Aider keeps using your own keys, as it does without DMN. DMN doesn't sell AI.

Will Aider use fewer tokens?

We haven't measured it. The benchmarks ran Claude Code, which calls DMN itself; with Aider, you decide what goes into the chat.
